Why does it crash the game when it starts ?
I put the PAL files with the SHP files in my expandmd50.mix and it crashes the game.
If I remove the PAL files the unit doesn't show. _________________ Strange...As strange as it may seem, I'm still, up here...floating.

I see so much wrong with this
a) the game ignores keys it doesn't know. So the Ares keys are simply ignored and the palette is the default unit*.pal
b) removing pal files shouldn't make the "unit" invisible. the custom pal files are ignored without Ares in the first place and the "unit" is just shown in messed up colors
c) it's no unit, it's a building
d) a crash caused by files in a mix, is more likely due to a corrupt mix, not because of the files
e) the ini example in the zip only covers art.ini. If someone inexperienced who can only copy/paste forgets to set up the new building animations in rules.ini [Animations] list, this can indeed cause a crash _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
upon looking at the .shp i see that the building has no image and that the main image itself is
tied into the animations; this means that if the anims arent listed under the animslist it wont

It can certainly be done with XCC Mixer, but it needs touch-up because the custom palette's remap is purple and you get a reduced color depth because the whole palette is dedicated to the colors verses just a section of it. I've attached an example below.
So if you wanted to use this SHP without Ares, it would just take a bit of handiwork to make the full conversion.
If you have OS Palette Editor, you might consider editing the purple remap to match the standard palette's red to make the conversion more straightforward. Either way, you're going to be spending a bit of time doing that or hand-painting the remap back on after the conversion.
its standard practice for shp creators to use purple remap; just use os .pal editor to modify a .pal
and then put the frames through LKO's image shaper to compile. it will convert just fine i think _________________ visit my moddb profile for .shp downloads and stuff QUICK_EDIT
Oh right! I totally forgot about that. It prevents the remap getting mixed with red colors. I've never used LKO's Image Shaper personally but if nothing else, I'm pretty sure LKO released some modified palettes somewhere around here as well that could be used. QUICK_EDIT
