Prologue
The Third Balkan War
After the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the entire world was shaken by the political consequences it created. The July Crisis was resolved on 1st of August with the Austro-Hungarian invasion of Serbia and Montenegro. The Third Balkan War was starting; Bulgarian troops joined on 7th of August in their offensive for the reunification with Macedonian lands, whilst troops of the Italian Kingdom have started on the 15th to march towards expansion of their new puppet Kingdoms of Albania and Montenegro. The key event that changed the world, was the lack of Russian intervention.
The events led to the creation of the Serbian Principality, a new puppet of the Austro-Hungary, but also made Romania more dependent on the Russian Empire.
This wasn’t stability for Austro-Hungary, nor a political calm in the Three Kingdoms (Serbia, Greece, Romania), but rather a rapid intervention meant to stop the creation of a more dangerous conflict. For the moment...
Chapter Two:
The destruction of Austro-Hungary
The crisis of 1921 was one of the critical points in history.
Austria-Hungary is on her knees. Indebted and without any good solutions, the expansion of the Empire led to a series of revolts. On 13th of May, Croatia’s socialist Popular League led to the establishment of the Croatian Republic, the first revolt to lead to the many that followed. Serbian Chetniks were the next ones, on 1st of June. On the 23rd of July, the same year, the German army sent the German Border Army to Prague, and created the successful German protectorate of the Czech Kingdom. The Slovak State is established by the 2nd Russian Army. Romania, finally achieves the unification dream on 23rd of August.
The Emperor’s throne was not to be demolished, though. On the 26th, the Austrian armies On 27th September, the k. k. Wien Landwehr army, under the auspices of the Emperor’s camarilla, occupied the government building; 5 hours later, on a radio conference, a royal dictatorship is announced in the Schönbrunn.
Hungary was not the happy child of the empire – the Communist Party of Hungary managed to achieve power through the Revolution in November. Hungary has lost a big amount of territory, after the split of the dual monarchy, yet for the communists, the re-annexation of Hungarian territories is just a matter of time...
Chapter Three:
The fall of Russia, and rise of the Internationale
The Tsar’s power began to dim after the fall of Serbia in the hands of the Austrian state. This wasn’t the Tsar’s first problem: The death of Lev Tolstoy in 1910 and the Russian Revolution of 1905 were simple sparks that didn’t have any real results. However, dissent wasn’t fully suppressed – the Okhrana efforts started to fail and the power of the state has crumbled over time.
On 23rd of June 1925, Vladimir Lenin returned to Russia. Two decades after his Revolution, he managed to bring revolts with his demands of bringing down the Tsar and creation of a communist government. His attempt led to creation of multiple clique-states inside Russia, as well as bringing up the power of nationalist revolts in Finland, Ukraine, the Caucasus, White Ruthenia and the Baltic states. The Tsar resigned on 1st of September, however he let the power in the hands of Mensheviks, Kadets and Socialist-Revolutionaries, and not in Lenin’s hands. The fragile Republic managed miraculously to survive, even if many of the former European lands were now in the hands of the Mitteleuropa. It had the power to extend the ideas of a socialist state in Turkey during the Ottoman bankruptcy and Civil War.
As of 1930, the Internationale was funded as a alliance between Russia, France, Turkey, Croatia and Hungary.
