Terran Mission 1 Remake [Old/Scraped]
Subject description: From Classic SC
As you all know, I'm working on a map for SC2 called Eye of the Storm, which is a hand made remake of the SC Brood War skirmish map of the same name.
Now, along side that map I present a mission remake of the first Terran mission from the original SC known as Wasteland. It's not complete, but it's mostly complete triggering and unit coding wise.
This remake I'm doing will feature the original transmissions from the game, including a custom sound set for Jim Raynor that isn't the Hellion. Main changes I made were what the units could build and what the buildings could do, meaning the Command Center can not load SCVs into itself as it normally can in SC2 and the Supply Depot can't lower into the ground, but I may debate on that for future misison maps...
This map isn't complete, but I'll post more pics as I work on it.

Once the map is finished, I'll add in some more "life" to the map making it seem like the Confederates are in control of the planet still. Already I have a transport in Confederate colors moving from one side of the map to the other.
(The rain clouds in pics 1, 5, 6, and 9 are tumbleweed doodads... they appear in game going 90 degrees left of where the arrow is pointing.)

Start
Working bridge! No terrain needed underneath!
Raynor Found! with Raynor's Portrait!
Just some environment looking around with Raynor.
Zergling! Oh noes!
Ack! Zerglings! Run!
A Confederate Transport just flying by... (Custom unit!)

It's been half a month since I posted any progress... So I will.
I stopped working on the map to be honest, because I was getting frustrated with the trigger systems (I still am getting frustrated with it, but learning more with it now that the game is out). Now, I've restarted it since SC2 is now out and I'm learning some more with the triggers and map making as well and would like to post my progress. I've most of the map done now, I just need to figure out how to get the game to count the marines now... but enough of that, let's get to the Eye Candy.

Too bad alot of the eye candy in SC2 isn't applicable to SC1, like the colony ships. Those things are pretty nifty. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum. QUICK_EDIT
I got some in-games now... I've still a few things left to figure out (Like counting the amount of marines one has) before it's a complete map, but the map is playable at least. I've put in so far two miscellaneous things that can help the player and is also just for show. I'll put the screen shots as well as the above screen shots from the editor into the first post, basically making the attacked files up there outdated which I'll remove in a bit.
I've blocked out the minimap as well because screen shots from the editor show the map.

No one else has a comment? Seriously? Are you people that addicted to the old CnC games to not even acknowledge this game's existence and the attempt to bring it here even more? I'm the only person to post map development for this game here at PPM, and no one except Regulus has taken an interest in this... QUICK_EDIT

That's a very mean thing to say You can't force people to comment just because you think your works deserve more attention... _________________

Well I'm sorry if it was mean then... However, that doesn't stop the fact no one bothered to post about my work here for almost half a month until I had to literally bump my topic again to give it more publicity to draw more of a crowd so we can have a bigger community in other games as well. QUICK_EDIT
If you think your works can receive better attention and feedback elsewhere, the option to relocate is always possible.
If however, what matters more is the actual modding you're doing, maybe you shouldn't be too bothered about whether or not people actually comment.
Again I must state: You can't force the community to budge in whatever direction you so desire. Nor should you vent your frustrations on the community if nobody seems to be posting feedback. _________________

pretty neat recreation. yea while its admirable trying to spark life in the new SC2 forums here, but honestly best bet would be something like hiveworkshop or other more SC2 minded communities.
After getting so use to wc3, I did find the galaxy editor familiar yet vastly different and still maneuvering my way around the editor itself. After playing through the campaign, gets me thinking what else is lurking in the depths. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT
LOL, nice work dude, though i remind the original mission being different(?) Anyways, hope to see more maps soon. XP
By the way, take it easy Valdez, you know how is sad to see something you worked soo much and ends without an comment (construtive or not) for months...and the topic gets everytime more hided in the forums and then...ZAP, nobody will never saw your work unless you make an BUMP. QUICK_EDIT
It's been a while, but I began remaking my map to make it more polished and to fit my terraining style more since I've learned some new things. Now I'll be posting a basic history of it via full map images. Things to notice though, is due to the height of the camera at the time it was taken, some units appear to not be there when they are. Zerglings are so small, they barely appear in some places.
