The Yak 29 is an attack bomber, capable of striking ground targets with Napalm equipped rockets. It's design stems from the development of the Yak 28, but with a straight-wing design for low-altitude combat.
Ground infantry and light vehicles are unable to escape once the rockets are launched, and will quickly be incinerated. Against heavier armor however, the rockets prove to be less effective as the rockets cannot penetrate thick metals.
Since the Yak fires unguided rockets, it must make strafing runs against targets in order to attack, thus is more likely to be hit by enemy fire. However, the Yak's sturdy straight-wing construction, along with emphasized quality control by Soviet engineers, compensates for this weakness

Yak's are vulnerable against aerial targets however, and so it is recommended that Soviet commanders deploy these with Mig 21 escorts.
