FAQ: Signature limits.
Subject description: Just to make it more formal: 600x200, 500kb all.
I'm gonna start enforcing some signature limits in this forum due to abuse of several members. Understand that the purpose of the topics that you view is to read what people post, not to read your signature, so bypassing the limits below will have your signature deleted without warning:
Width: 600
Height: 200
Signature size: 500kb.
The specifications above are for your whole signature (sum of images + texts + whatever you use).
Failure to comply with these specifications will have your signature deleted without warning

Also, your signature must not have any:
- porn, nude or whatever disgusting adult rated content
- links to illegal activities (including warez)
- hacking material or links to it.
- flames or insults to any other forum member.
- anything that breaks the design of the forums.
Failure to this specification will result on suspensions or bans without warning.

Why do you people need flashy, huge and whatever else sigs? It's just a sig, afterall... It's cool to link your sites or show the mods you are working for.... or make a propaganda to whatever link you want, but you don't need a huge space and flashy things to display your creativity. QUICK_EDIT

i already did that, as i had that sig on TumSun too, and ackron was pretty bitchy. TumSun also changed its rules from 800 to 600

yup. im for double the size and 200x800 pixels. (its not like most ppl will use it anyway, those who already have text as sig wont change it, neither have we had any problems with bandwidth yet as far as i know) _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
Its a signature, it's not the end of the world if it has to be smaller, if you get upset becuase you can't have a massive image in your sig your very sad.
As far as I know Banshee is the admin here and has more expirience in running a forum than most of you complaining, he makes the rules if there is a reason better than " it looks cool cus I l0ve big sigs that take up a quarter of peoples screens!!!! Actually, i couldent agree more... other than one one point. I spent 5 minutes reading that LOTOR sig some guy here had. No not the one tratos had but the GIF one. GIF Sigs are sorta nice to read, but PNG/JPG static ones are good enough. Look at Morpher's. It looks the right size for a sig. Not a large sig that is more than 500kb that loads slow on Slower connections _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

True, the likelyhood of someone running 640x480 is absurd, but there are some of us that are running 800x600 (I am temporarily, yet temporary may last a while) and with the side columns being about 200 pixels, 600 pixel wide signatures are perfect for the realistic lowest reso users will be running.
No flash files should be allowed in signatures, if they are now (I don't believe so) then Banshee needs to remove this right immediately.
I didn't know they make 640x what ever still for Monitors....
I mean, my monitor can't support that resolution...If my video drivers loose data, they goto 800 instead. O_o _________________ ... QUICK_EDIT

The best use of any sig would be for advertising the mod you are working on. If you're not working on a mod, then it would be to display your personal taste, whatever it is. (As long as it's within the rules of the forum.)
With a 500kb limit, my animated ShyTroop gif is only about 130kb with dimensions of 400x100. Personaly, I think sig images shouldn't be taller than 100 pixels or wider than 468. (468 is the normal width of a banner, like the advertisements you see on webpages.)
Images larger than this are needlessly large. If you want to see your image in a large size all the time, set it as your desktop wallpaper instead of creating threads where we have to scroll down forever. A normal 50 post (1 Page) thread on PPM is extremely lengthy, because all the sigs that are 150 to 250 pixels high. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Anyway, a small gif animation is cool, but i saw a animation that didnt load before I was finised reading the thred. And the 200x800 is OK. A image might get cooler if it's a bit smaller.
But still, this is inly my own thinkin....
