The SSIA Juggernaut Tank (no other designations) is the iconic vehicle of the SSIA, in pre-Main War times, the Main War and the Invasion of 2019. Blueprints managed to survive the time transfers, and construction of the vehicles began in secret some time between 2013 and 2019. Being an extremely experimental vehicle even for its time, in 2242, the Juggernaut Tank is based on the same underlying principles as the Russian made Apocalypse Tanks.
That is, a maximum emphasis on armor and firepower at the expense of mobility. Equipped with 3 210mm cannons and dual high-intensity laser cannons, the Juggernaut is designed to attack and destroy any variety of targets, including vehicles, infantry, fortifications, warships and even aircraft. To complement this impressive array of firepower, the Juggernaut is installed with a prototype of the AIOCS, a technology system used in Invader APCs to allow for occupants to safely shoot their weapons from inside the vehicle. The Juggernaut's version supports only four combatants, however.
The primary reason why the Juggernaut was so experimental, so controversial for its time was that it was one of the first combat vehicles to be exclusively powered by "safe" nuclear engines. It was necessary, however, as the extreme girth of the Juggernaut Tank makes any conventional engine useless.
Most of this weight comes from the armor plating that covers the Juggernaut, which is of an incredibly resistant but incredibly heavy composite steel. Capable of withstanding the direct impact of a small nuclear-tipped missile and slowly repairing damage sustained, the Juggernaut's armor is probably the most advanced and most classified piece of technology the SSIA holds. There is no conventional weapon that can cause significant internal damage to a Juggernaut Tank.
But the SSIA doesn't see the weight as a downside, but rather as another weapon. Some enemies are too stubborn to retreat, even in the face of guaranteed annihilation- The Juggernaut's self-maintaining tracks are large enough to simply roll over most vehicles that dare impede the unit's progress.
There is no debate that the Juggernaut is slow, however, and some early Juggernaut Tanks fielded by the SSIA to defend some European cities were destroyed because the crews over-estimated the survivability of their vehicle against superior numbers; once they were surrounded, there was no escape.
Due to the incredible complications in just getting the Juggernaut to move, let alone attack, its manufacturing is extremely costly and limited to five per commander.
Variants:
The Juggernaut has no variants, just older prototypes.
